The Instructional Basketball Skills program runs on Sundays, starting on September 6, 2026, and running for eight consecutive weeks, concluding on October 25, 2026. Sessions are 60 minutes long with two available time slots: 9:00 AM and 10:10 AM. The program is limited to 50 children total.
We welcome children in Grades K–8.
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades will be kept in separate grade-specific groups.
Grades 3–4, 5–6, and 7–8 will typically be combined based on enrollment.
We aim for a maximum of 8 children per group, but may go up to 10 if the group is from the same school and similar age level.
All sessions take place at Archbishop Riordan High School, 175 Frida Kahlo Way, San Francisco, CA. Sessions will be held in the gymnasium (weather-protected).
Our goal is to teach basketball in a caring, positive, and age-appropriate environment. We focus on building strong fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and — most of all — a lifelong love for the game.
Children rotate through focused skill stations each week with a clear progression in difficulty as the program advances.

Skill Stations Rotation (6 Stations)
Children are rotate with the same coach through all 6 stations every 7-8 minutes.
Station 1: Shooting Form – Proper stance, hand placement, follow-through, and close-range form shooting
Station 2: Shooting Games – Fun target games, around-the-world, knockout, and mini competitions
Station 3: Defense – Defensive stance, slides, closeouts, and positioning
Station 4: Passing – Chest passes, bounce passes, overhead passes, and partner drills
Station 5: Dribbling – Stationary dribbling, control dribble, speed dribble, and crossover moves
Station 6: Agility – Ladder drills, cone shuttles, quick feet, and coordination exercises
Additional Notes:
Adjustments are made based on the group’s age and ability.
Emphasis is always on fun, encouragement, positive reinforcement, and building confidence!

We like a maximum of eight children per group but will sometimes go to ten if the group is from one school and age group. We keep kindergarten, first grade, and second grade as individual grade groups. We usually combine grades three and four, five and six, and seven and eight, based on total sign-ups.
